arun shourie...

Today there was a lecture by mr. Arun shourie-former disinvestment minister.CLT was housefull and everybody was eager to know his thoughts on politics and other related issues for which he is known.lecture was good, everybody liked it and even laughed at some of his comments on "Laloo prasad yadav".
his brilliance as a speaker and his confidence was reflected on all topics he discussed. But the idea remained the same which generally every minister tries to do-"blame each other".although he talked about the deficiencies in the present bureaucratic system but never reflected the possible solutions.but this thing is not totally true.it is the IAS and other state level officers which are working hard to make India a better place.we cannot blame the whole community due to some handful of corrupted officers in our system.UPSC is not a fool to let enter some idiots into the administration.we should not forget that some of those officers are IITians also.
Coming back to his lecture. He did gave some good words like we as a professional can give something to our nation by taking some issues of public interest although quite difficult but not impossible(with most of doing a job of 9 to 9:) ).
Recently an article in frontline by a former IAS officer put forward some points which might help ministers and officers to do a better job.he just asked government and its employees to lead a life which is not insulated from the general public.generally u will see some bodyguards roaming around some ministers and bueraucrats.this doesnt mean they dont need any security but a lot better interaction with general public has to be there which will really make them feel the problems faced by common man and they might come up with some solutions.when an IAS officer can bring white revolution in bihar(As told by Mr. shourie) he can do a lot more things.he holds the key to the administration and to criticise him without any reason is not fair.
in his lecture he seemed to be biased towards "india shining" agenda of BJP.he enumerated certain nos.-GDP,foreign exchange etc.But when the question of development of villages came he argued that everything cannot be solved.Well i think he has forgotten the results of lok sabha elections.
most of us have a very funny image of laloo prasad yadav.he is the part of every humour i politics may be due to his behaviour or due to his english speaking capabilities with a bihari accent. He took a bold step by probing godhara case again which some ministers termed as "politically motivated".may be true.in his 15 yrs of rule in bihar he has almost neglected the development of bihar in terms of infrastructure.but we forget that under his rule he has done a lot for dalits and other backward classes which have suffered a long history of suppression and hate.with BJP going for most of the upper cast hindu votes(who still believe in cast system) how could u expect other backward classes to vote for BJP.this what quite clear in the lok sabha elections. As a railway minister he introduced srikhand, lassi.mattha, kulhards in railway plateforms and in trains thus giving encouragement to local industries and 40%poor people who still survive on these traditional work.
this blog might look boring to you but by this blog i just want to convey "think before criticising".
