the spirit of yuva..........

maniratnam again proved that he is one of the finest director in india after making YUVA.It is a very risky business making such films which do not appeal to masses who are really crazy about "happy family" melodrama which was started by sooraj barjatya and now continued by karan johar.
yuva was quite straight forward and showed diffrent shades of the youth in india.maniratnam has dealt the politics in campus very efficiently.he has also pointed towards the involment of youth in politics.
Its a pity that in reality very few college going persons take interest in politics which is an integral part of our democracy. It is true that campus politics has also ruined the education system in some universities.allahabad universities is a good example for this.universities which used to produce lot of IAS officers some 20 yrs. ago has not been able to produce a single IAS in some last 5 to 10 yrs.this is the case in most of the universities where education has been mixed with politics.student leader in such universities have become puppets in the hands of certain poltical leaders who use them to campaign for their party thus gaining a lot of student support.
election for student leader has really changed into a war betwen diffrent political parties which tends to ruin the whole educational system.although some students dont take interst in these sort of things (they call it-"dirty politics") but in some way or the other they are affected by this ."keeping quiet is not the solution"- was depicted in the movie yuva.
rather i would say that movie has shown what could youth do in politics which is still far ahead and will require a lot of hard work.with most of the youth trying to be the genX(a term which was used in US for the rebellious youth against the constraints of the class society) it is quite difficult to realise such a dream which was made into motion picture in the form of "yuva".today`s youth has lost its interest in the present democratic system(without any reason) which can be inferred from the no. of voters in the age group of 18-25 yrs.
with most of us having a dream of going to US for the sole purpose of making money ,much of the responsibility of the future of politics of india has come on the youth who come from the less educated background.
politics is a very important factor which decides the future course of the nation.just taking for granted "that politics is bad" does not seem reasonable.politics affects both public and proffessional life of people.we cannot blame our present leaders for their inefficiency but democracy cannot help if there are no good leaders.then the only option is to choose from the good among the worst.whom do you think is good among mulayam singh yadav, mayawati and kalyan singh?therefore the elections are not fought on the basis of the development but on the basis of the cast(as mentioned in the comment by girish) .how could you expect a person to fight elections on the basis of development when he has been into casts system and get benifited as the people who vote are also a part of this cast system.this is where the role of the so-called "educated class" comes in the picture and we form the part of this class.if we cannot give leaders we should atleast give substantial no. of voters who can force the present leaders to work according to us.
that doesnt mean that we all should involve in politics (or rather generally politics involve us) and ruin our education but use it as a tool to make our society better and healthier.
today we talk about movies, rock stars, mobile, fashion etc but we laugh when someone talks about politics.
rather a more responsible behaviour has to be adopted.
